GRANDPARENT'S DAY AT SWS

Our students had very special visitors at school this week!

The children eagerly awaited the arrival of their grandparents.

They made cards and pictures to give to their grandparents.

It was the first time many of our grandparents had visited our new classrooms.

The boys and girls enjoyed taking their grandparents
on a tour of our building.

Grandparents enjoyed visiting our garden.
The boys and girls were excited to show them what was
growing there.

At the end of their visit, boys and girls took grandparents to the refreshment table to decorate cookies.

Thank you GRANDPARENTS for the Special People You Are!!!
You made this a very special day for your grandchildren!

***We would like to give a Big Thank You to our PTO parents for their hard work in making this a special day for our children and grandparents!!!  Another special Thank You goes to Foodland for donating cookies!!!

SWS Students Raise Money for Police Officers

SWS students recently participated in a fundraiser to provide Marshall County law enforcement officers with Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) and training. Officers from the Douglas Police Reserves are assembling the kits.

The students raised over $600 which will provide six Law Enforcement Officers with kits and training.

Two Douglas Police Officers came to school to thank the boys and girls for the money they raised.

We are happy to be able to help our area Law Enforcement Officers!

Way to go SWS kids!!!

Pie Day/Hat Day Huge Success!!!

SWS students brought their dollars to wear a hat or pie a teacher. The money they raised went to help Marshall County
Police Officers.

We had brave volunteers!

Lots of fun!!

And best of all we surpassed our goal of $500 and
raised over $600!!

Thank You SWS Parents and Students for supporting
this great cause!

APPLE CIDER DAY

Here we are waiting our turn to start making our apple cider.  The old Apple Cider Machine underwent renovations this summer and we're anxious to get it going!

We've been discussing how people in the past made their own juice.  Pretty soon we discover that it's hard work!

After lots of turning, it looks like we're about to get the apples chopped!

Now it's time to start crushing those apples!

And finally, the results!

It was worth the hard work. We all enjoyed the fresh juice!

The next day we wrote stories about our experience.

What a great way to celebrate our study of Johnny Appleseed  as well as October's National Apple Month!
